Good Credit
So much is said about bad credit that it often goes in one ear and out the other while there is less talk about how to start off on the right foot in order to avoid falling into credit problems and debt in the first place. Having good credit can give an individual a sense of security in knowing that they have funds to fall back on should they need cash in a hurry. A good credit rating is also essential in getting a good deal when buying a new car or home and can make the difference in receiving a loan or being declined. Thus, good credit can make a person’s financial dreams come true, whereas bad credit automatically puts a person behind the fiscal eight ball and limits the amount of options available. The following gives a brief overview of some of the things that a person can do to ensure that they have good credit and enjoy the perks that follow. Start Early Credit ratings take into account how long a person has had an established line of credit. Having a long line of good credit can substantially improve an individual’s credit rating. For those that have children it may be a good idea to register a credit card in the child’s name as soon as legally possible. Periodically allow the child to make purchases with the card and make sure that each month the child pays the balance in full. This will teach a young teenager to get in the habit of paying off credit card debt in full and will also help to establish a good line of credit for the child early in life. Be careful to restrict access to the card however as young teens with too much power over their credit card could go on an all out shopping spree that would defeat the purpose entirely. Cards When selecting a credit card be sure to shop around and find one with the lowest interest rate possible. However, it is always best to pay a credit card bill in full because it will save money n the long run and keep debts from piling up. Try and limit the number of cards used. Using any more than one credit card is playing with fire because keeping track of where all the money is going becomes harder and harder the more cards that are owned. info@creditbureaubiz.com |
